Romanian Hijaz / Nikriz
Despite its name, the Romanian Hijaz has a very different palette of sounds and emotions than the usual "Hijaz. Commonly used in Eastern European countries and in traditional Jewish music, this scale is poetic, profound and intense - it connects us to the core of our emotions. It is the tale of a passionate lover, weeping for lost beauty.

At the same time, this scale is called "Nikriz" in the Middle East and by itinerant gypsies. Here it tells lively, energetic stories in which women dance by the fire and children play with sparkling eyes.

Steel type: Ember / Stainless steel

With the right playing technique, your Yishama Pantam will remain in tune for many years. If the instrument is played with too much force, similar to a djembe, it can go out of tune more quickly. By playing with care and gentleness, the handpan will retain its balance, sound, and stability.

All Yishama Pantams are extensively tested for stability, so you can be sure of an instrument that is designed to remain in tune for a long time.

The first retuning of your Yishama Pantam is free of charge. This retuning can be carried out by us in the Netherlands or the instrument can be sent back to Yishama. Shipping and handling costs are at the customer's expense.

To keep your hand pan in top condition, it is important to take good care of the instrument. Here are some maintenance tips:

  1. Do not store in bag: Do not store your hand pan in the bag for long periods of time, as moisture may remain in it. The instrument must be allowed to "breathe" to prevent rust.
  2. Remove jewelry: Before you start playing, it is important to take off rings, bracelets and watches. These can scratch the surface of your handpan.
  3. Do not place the handpan on the ground: Always place your handpan on a soft surface, such as a carpet or chair, to prevent damage to the underside.
  4. Prevent water damage: Keep your hand pan dry. If it does get wet, dry it immediately with a clean cloth, paper towel or tissue. Then lightly apply Handpan Oil. You will receive a bottle with your instrument, and it can be reordered if needed.
  5. Avoid direct sunlight: The instrument is sensitive to extreme heat and direct sunlight, especially in summer. Too much heat can affect the tuning. Therefore, never leave your handpan in full sunlight, such as in a car without a cover or near a window in the house.
  6. Do not store the handpan in the bag for long periods: The bag is intended for transportation, not for long-term storage. It is best to store your handpan outside the bag to allow it to "breathe" and prevent accumulation of moisture.
  7. Use only Handpan Oil for cleaning: Do not use alcohol, disinfectants or other liquids to clean your handpan. These can damage the surface and affect sound quality. Use only Handpan Oil with a soft cloth to maintain and protect your instrument.
