Product Information
Twelve notes. One instrument. Endless music.
The B Kurd 12 is the handpan for those who want more. More notes, more possibilities, and more depth. With a rich set of 12 notes crafted from durable Ember Steel and a deep B2 fundamental, this instrument is designed for players who truly want to express what they feel—from meditative and intense to melodic and powerful.
Handmade in Amsterdam — by us.
The scale: B minor
The Kurd scale is known as one of the most expressive and emotionally rich scales in the world of handpans. The low B root note gives this instrument a dark, warm, and mysterious character—deeper and richer than the popular D Kurd.
This makes the B Kurd perfect for players looking to add more atmosphere, emotion, and depth to their music.
With 12 notes, this handpan also offers an exceptionally wide range. The additional notes—including two deep bottom notes and an extra-high A4—give you the freedom to play both deep, meditative bass lines and bright melodies on a single instrument.
The notes
B2 | (D3) · (E3) · F#3 · G3 · A3 · B3 · C#4 · D4 · E4 · F#4 · (A4)
Notes in parentheses are additional notes played on the lower part of the instrument.
The material: Ember Steel
The B Kurd 12 is made from Ember Steel, a specially treated steel known for its warm tone, rich overtones, and long sustain.
The notes linger longer, filling the space and creating a deep, soothing atmosphere that invites intuitive playing.
Over time, every handpan develops a unique patina. This is normal and actually gives your instrument its own character, without affecting its tuning or sound.
Handmade in Amsterdam 🇳🇱
Every handpan is built, tuned, and inspected entirely by hand in our workshop in Amsterdam.
No mass production. No factory.
Just craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a passion for sound.

To keep your hand pan in top condition, it is important to take good care of the instrument. Here are some maintenance tips:
- Do not store in bag: Do not store your hand pan in the bag for long periods of time, as moisture may remain in it. The instrument must be allowed to "breathe" to prevent rust.
- Remove jewelry: Before you start playing, it is important to take off rings, bracelets and watches. These can scratch the surface of your handpan.
- Do not place the handpan on the ground: Always place your handpan on a soft surface, such as a carpet or chair, to prevent damage to the underside.
- Prevent water damage: Keep your hand pan dry. If it does get wet, dry it immediately with a clean cloth, paper towel or tissue. Then lightly apply Handpan Oil. You will receive a bottle with your instrument, and it can be reordered if needed.
- Avoid direct sunlight: The instrument is sensitive to extreme heat and direct sunlight, especially in summer. Too much heat can affect the tuning. Therefore, never leave your handpan in full sunlight, such as in a car without a cover or near a window in the house.
- Do not store the handpan in the bag for long periods: The bag is intended for transportation, not for long-term storage. It is best to store your handpan outside the bag to allow it to "breathe" and prevent accumulation of moisture.
- Use only Handpan Oil for cleaning: Do not use alcohol, disinfectants or other liquids to clean your handpan. These can damage the surface and affect sound quality. Use only Handpan Oil with a soft cloth to maintain and protect your instrument.
